General FAQ
Q: Can I still subscribe if I live outside of the USA?
A: Yes. Please remember that standard data fees apply.
Q: Will I get text messages from other subscribers?
A: No. This is not a group text. You’ll only get text messages from the host.
Q: Can I reply to the host?
A: Yes. Your messages will go directly (and only) to the host of the campaign
Q: Will the host reply to me?
A: The host has the ability to reply directly to you and they often do but, based on the total number of subscribers it is not always possible.
Q: Will my number be shared with anyone?
A: We will not sell your phone number to any third party. The host has access to your number, but that’s it.
Q: What are the costs?
A: For free text campaigns normal text messaging rates apply. Paid campaigns have different subscription costs set by the host.
Q: Is there a trial period?
A: Some campaigns allow for two-week trial periods. Others may offer coupons. Any discount is noted during the checkout process. These vary based solely on the host of the campaign.
Q: How do I cancel my subscription?
A: Just text ‘STOP’ to the number you’re receiving texts from.
Q: Can I become a host?
A: Yes. Please fill out this form — https://joinsubtext.com/apply
Q: Do you offer refunds?
A: You will not be charged if you subscribe to a paid campaign and cancel within a trial period, if offered. All other charges are prorated, but are non-refundable. You can cancel anytime.
Q: How many texts/how often will I receive from my Host?
A: It all depends on your Host, but you should receive updates a few times a week.
Q: Who is behind this?
A: The creators of Subtext is Advance Local’s Alpha Group http://advancealphagroup.com/. We have no editorial input into what hosts text on their campaign.
Host FAQs
Q: Do hosts have to use their own phone number?
A: Nope. We provide encrypted local phone numbers to all of our hosts.
Q: When a user replies does every subscriber see that reply?
A: Nope. Only the host will see that user’s reply in the Subtext dashboard. They can choose to reply directly to that user if they like.
Q: How much time do hosts spend on the platform per day?
A: Generally hosts tell us they spend about 30 minutes per day on the platform
Q: How frequently do hosts text their subscribers?
A: We recommend 5–7 texts spread out throughout the course of the week so users get the maximum value without being inundated with too many texts.
Q: How does Subtext content differ from what is published on Twitter?
A: We recommend hosts use Subtext as a way to provide a behind the scenes look at their area of expertise. Think of it as a text conversation where your friends are looking for advice, information or guidance on the topic(s) the host is an expert on.
Q: Can this be integrated into my existing membership program as a value add or as an a la carte paid option?
A: Definitely. We’ve integrated Subtext with a number of existing membership programs.
Q: Do hosts have to respond to all of the replies they receive?
A: Nope. We recommend occasionally replying to some of the more insightful replies from time to time but we do not promise subscribers that this will happen.
Q: Do you sell the data we collect?
A: Absolutely not. We’re not a data business and we have no intention of seller any user data.
Q: What if subscribers want to cancel?
A: We handle all of the technical legwork for subscribers canceling, changing credit cards, opting out, etc. so our hosts can focus on connecting with their biggest fans.
Q: What if I have questions?
A: We got you. You’ll have a direct line to the team at Subtext. We’re here to answer any questions.
Q: How do I set started as a host?
A: Just send us an email here: hosts@joinsubtext.com or fill out our brief questionnaire here: https://joinsubtext.com/apply. Once we hear from you, we can get you live on the platform in 48 hours.
Q: Do new users have access to old messages sent?
A: No. A message is sent only to subscribers at that time. If somebody joins, they’ll get all future messages, but there is no public web-archive of old messages sent.
Q: Why does it look like my broadcast didn’t send to everyone?
A: The number of deliveries shown is the number that is guaranteed to have been delivered. It’s possible the broadcast was flagged as spam by a carrier. This is something out of our control, but keep in mind that carriers will stop messages if their algorithms find the content in it suspicious.
